Greenfingers is our horticultural therapy programme. Enjoy exercise in the fresh air, meeting other people with similar experiences, making new friends, and learning new skills.
10:00am to 12:30pm
Go at your own pace whilst tending to the allotment and improving your physical wellbeing.
Receive one to one support from trained staff and volunteers. We also offer support to progress on to other activities and groups.
A chance to learn new skills, such as gardening and growing vegetables; and indoor activities, such as art and crafts in our on-site heated cabin.
The opportunity to socialise in a safe space and feel part of our community here at SAGE.
During our Greenfingers session you can get involved with gardening activities as energetic or as light that suits you. Our sessions are in small groups and we can offer one to one support if you’d like whilst you’re here. Staff and volunteers are always ready to lend an ear if you need to talk. There are plenty of places to sit and think, or chat with other members of SAGE on the allotment.
After tending to the allotment, if you’d like to take part, there is an arts and craft activity. All of our activities are optional. We like you to decide how you would like to spend your time whilst you’re with us.
Towards the end of the session, group members sit and eat a shared lunch with allotment produce and chat about our plans for the week. We provide everything you need to participate in the session. You’ll also be able to take spare produce and seedlings home when they are available.
There is a wheelchair accessible toilet at the top of the site. The allotment can be accessed by car down a gravel track for people to be dropped off. There are accessible paths to the main part of the allotment. We also have raised beds where people with mobility issues or back problems can work. We have seating areas too, so if people have had enough gardening, they can sit and enjoy the natural sights, sounds and smells surrounding them.
We also work with people who have chronic health problems or disabilities; and those that haven't been accessing any other forms of support, who have become quite isolated socially.
Potential members will be invited to visit to assess whether accessibility needs can be met. We will do our best to enable access for all, if you would like to discuss any of this, please get in touch.
We would love to speak with you. Feel free to reach out using the below details.
