Studies show that just two hours a week in nature can improve mental health.

At SAGE, we prescribe eco-therapy to:

  • encourage healthy eating on our allotment
  • create community through having shared goals with those around you
  • feel achievement and connection with the world around you by growing fruit, vegetables and plants in the garden
  • improve biodiversity
  • mitigate climate change by vegetation capturing carbon and improving air quality
  • bring together diverse groups of people

Support

To deliver well developed therapeutic support, tailored for and with individuals. To provide support through our groups and beyond in the wider SAGE community through follow on groups.

Arts

To use creativity as a vehicle for building self-esteem, confidence and experiment with new ways of connecting with nature, mapping progress over time and celebrating our differences.

Gardening

To support people through horticultural therapy by spending time outdoors, connecting with nature and with people.

Education

To facilitate learning exchanges between members, staff and volunteers around mental health support. To share our expertise in areas of horticulture and mental health with the wider community.
